Visegrad 4 Business Portal

The Visegrad 4 Business Portal, funded by the International Visegrad Fund, is a pioneering digital platform designed to strengthen economic cooperation and innovation across the V4 region. It builds on the successful legacy of the Visegrad 4 Business Conference, which since 2022 has connected over 1,300 business leaders, policymakers, and innovators to exchange best practices and address pressing regional and global challenges.

While the annual conference has become a landmark event, its once-a-year format has limited the potential to turn valuable connections into lasting impact. The Visegrad 4 Business Portal addresses this gap by providing a continuous, year-round hub for strategic intelligence and collaboration.

What the portal offers:

  • Curated insights on industry trends, regional competitiveness, and emerging markets.
  • Policy and regulatory updates to help businesses react quickly to new frameworks.
  • Funding announcements that unlock cross-border opportunities for SMEs and larger enterprises.
  • R&D and innovation matchmaking that goes beyond national silos.
  • Continuity with the annual conference, turning short-term networking into lasting cooperation.

The project’s regional relevance is underscored by findings from the European Innovation Scoreboard 2024, which highlights persistent weaknesses in V4 innovation capacity, limited private sector R&D investment, and insufficient cross-border networking. By centralizing knowledge and fostering structured cooperation, the portal directly contributes to narrowing this innovation gap and aligning the region with EU goals for competitiveness and sustainability.

Ensuring a Level Playing Field: Rebuilding Fair Competition and Strategic Competitiveness in the European E-commerce Market

The report analyzes how non-EU e-commerce platforms such as Temu and Shein gain rapid market share in Europe by exploiting regulatory loopholes, avoiding VAT and customs duties, and repeatedly violating EU consumer protection, product-safety, and data-privacy rules. These practices create structural distortions that disadvantage compliant European businesses—especially in the V4 region—while state-supported Chinese exporters further widen the competitive gap. The paper argues that urgent, coordinated EU action is needed to restore fair competition and safeguard Europe’s digital economy.
